Checking battery health before replacement

I followed Ifixit guide to remove batteries unit from first generation apple ipad.

Is there a way how to check their health (see pics)

as I couldn’t on the ipad as completely dark and did not open, before I purchase another unit, pls?

All you can do is test battery voltage with a multimeter or a DCPS to see if it’s still alive. Ideally voltage should be around 3.8/4.2v range if it was charged recently. As for other indepth info like number of charging cycles or possible failures, unless one has dedicated battery testing tools, battery should be up and running into a device.
