iPhone 8 back glass alternatives?

Heya everyone,

My friend recently gave me their iPhone 8 after they utterly destroyed its screen and back glass plate. I have immediate plans to replace the screen, but I’m just gonna pick up a case and wait a bit on the back glass. So here’s my question:

Does any third party out there make back plate that isn’t glass? I kinda don’t care about the wireless charging feature, so it doesn’t really matter if the material isn’t conductive or whatever (I’m graduating up from an iPhone 5, so less is more to me.) A quick search turned up nothing.

Also I feel like all black on the rose gold mid-frame would look pretty neat!

Buy a new back chassis from a reseller or ifixit and replace it yourself.

Hey thanks for responding! I absolutely plan to do all the work myself.

This back glass project is pretty low priority for me after I replace the screen, so I definitely don’t want to drop big bucks to replace the whole chassis. What I’m really wondering is whether or not any manufacturers out there make and sell a back plate that isn’t made of glass. Maybe metal or a durable plastic or composite?

What does the Logic Board Replacement Guide have to do with this? There seem to be several components left underneath that…that's not going to do it if you want to replace the back glass.
