Bent Corner on Cover, Pushing Forward Screen

I dropped my laptop today like a fool, and the corner of the aluminum casing bent. Just the casing is bent but its bent in a way that is pushing my screen forward. Is this fixable and can I fix it myself or do I need to take it to a shop?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

It may be a case (pun not intended) of dismantling the whole laptop so that you can get to the lid cover behind the LCD display (if this is what you mean) and gently straightening it out.

Here’s a link to the service manual. Scroll to p.54 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the LCD unit. Once you have the LCD unit out, proceed with the instructions on how to remove the remaining components in the lid so that you can work on it more effectively.

If you can’t repair the lid cover, replacements are available online On p.69 part #6 you’ll find the part number (FRU number) for the cover. If you search online using the part number only you’ll get results for suppliers of the part. Here’s a link to just one supplier. It’s shown only to give you an idea of the cost of the part. There are other suppliers that may suit you better.

If this seems too daunting, contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service and ask for a quote to repair the damage.

Hopefully this is of some help.
