Black dots on camera image, new camera and lens replaced still there

Hi all, as title explains. My Samsung S6 camera has permanent black dots on the screen. Only when camera app is on though. You take pictures and it shows up on the pictures. I cleaned the lens area with an alcohol wipe without realising the lens glass circle had fell off previous, so was cleaning the lens and the camera. After cleaning the camera and lens with a cotton bud the dots were still there, giving me the conclusion the camera was damaged and needed a new one……plus a new lens cover lol.

Replaced the camera with a new OEM camera and also changed the broken lens. Once switched back on the fault is still there with a new camera. Which is making me think its not a camera fault.

Has anyone suffered the same issue after changing the camera and lens and if you were able to find what’s causing it and fixed it how did you manage?

Many Thanks

Hi,

Is there a pattern to the dots or are they randomly spread across the screen?

Have you tried starting the phone in safe mode (should be the same procedure for your model) and check if the dots are there when using the camera?

If they aren't then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one.

Final option is to perform a factory restore to determine if it is a hardware problem or not. Be aware that a factory restore (or reset) will ERASE all your data and downloaded apps, so BACKUP the phone BEFORE performing the reset.

Once the phone has been backed up and the reset completed, test the camera.

If the problem is still there it is a hardware problem. As you have replaced the camera components it looks like it is somewhere on the systemboard. No help I know.

If not there anymore, restore the phone using the backup that you made and check again after it has been restored. If still not there then the reset has resolved the problem.
