E5 error code but the lid is off
I keep getting an E5 error code, even with the lid off while using the brown/saute setting. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Is this a good question?

Amy Springer This code appears when either the lid or Steam Release Valve is being used incorrectly for a non-pressure cook setting. Please note that the lid should never be used when using the Brown/Sauté setting.
When using the lid during the Slow Cook or Yogurt settings, the Steam Release Valve must be turned to the open or āReleaseā position.
If you receive the E5 Notification during any of these situations, then simply remove the lid while using Brown/SautĆ©, or correctly position Steam Release Valve to āReleaseā while using Slow Cooking or Yogurt, and then unplug the unit for at least 5 seconds, re-plug it in and re-program your cook settings to begin cooking. from here

Is anyone actually reading the question? She already said she's not using the lid. None of what is being suggested is remotely helpful.
The lid is open, I keep plugging and unplugging and the E5 is still showing... after 2yrs I guess itās time for a new one... I use it almost every day
The picture below is for the Aroma Rice Cooker unit. It is on the outside where the base and the lid hinge when opened. Unplug unit. Remove clear drain cover and unscrew single screw. Pop off black cover. There are two black wires which run from the lid to the base. I just centered them (they were off to the side and getting pinched each time we opened the lid), and then used electrical tape to pin them down and keep them stable. Slip cover back on, rescrew, and you're good to go! Thank you minhdvu2002 for a successful solution!
This fixed my E5 problem:

I actually just split the wires and placed them in the niche space to separate them, and did not tape it down, and it worked.
The wire on cap broken, soldering wire. It working perfect.

E5 thereās a metal base on the coil. Remove it and woks fine.
I tried two things. First, I unplugged and slightly unscrewed ( just little loosen up) the two screws on the inner lower wall of main body and screwed backslightly sanded the gray rust on the screw. And screwed back tightly.
Second, I opened the bottom two screws and open the plastic cover and unscrew the two electic rod with blue lines and red lines attached on each touching the gray metal plate and shined/sand off the surface of the gray metal plate so the connection is back. And screwed back the electronic rods back.
My problem was the E5 error code is coming up when the pressure mode is on and also the saute mode is on. The status was all the way up when I start the pot. And short time later E5 beeping coming up. Now after the two things done the status is back to no light when the start button pressed. Just it finished the pressure cooking. š I do not know which process fixed it. Maybe the first part is enough just rusted screws to block the proper contact to measure temperature.

My cooker is working still. I think I put the wet inner pot in the cooker and caused the oxidation of parts.
Mine had same problem. I ended up calling Sunbeam/Crockpot and they told me it is a chip malfunction and told me to return it for a replacement. Hope that helps.

Mine does the same thing but I found out if you just heat it up first without anything in it it works fine

It wonāt heat up, thatās the problem. I put the oil in and hit Heat and up comes that annoying E message which refers to the lid but the lid is open as it should be for sautĆ©ing.
Hi, I opened the bottom of the pot, unscrewed all the screws, took a picture as it was, and screwed it up again. Everything started to work.

I'm getting E5 when I use the sautee feature with cover removed all the time. Unplugged and plugged several times, same code. Is there any solutions to this E5 code.
I unscrewed two screws. Works perfectly now. Ty,Elena!
Took off bottom. Then unscrewed two screws. Fastened back up again
Unscrew the bottom of the pot with a screwdriver. Disconnect all wires. Then put it back as it was. It should work.

make sure after you plug in to hit the pressure icon first then saute i don't know if will work for you but it does for me
Same issue with my crockpot pressure cooker. So I pulled out the cooking pot and pressed the pot sensor switch a few times and now it's heating up again and no E5 code. Edit. I went to start slow cooking after I used the brown/sear and the code came back. I suspect the safety switch at the bottom is the culprit. So I am trying the slow cooker setting and I have put a small flat washer on top of the switch. My theory is that the button is not being pushed in enough or my pot might be bowing up enough to not push the button down properly.

Mine was throwing the E5 back when I began following this thread.. as it turns out, one day somehow, when I put the pot in the machine, there was a plastic lid stuck to the bottom, I used the machine then found the melted plastic, lordš¤¦š½āāļø. Idk how I didnāt see the plastic lid, from a to go bowl, before I made that candle.. I allowed it to cool, dismantled as much as necessary, removed the plastic, I donāt know if I got it all. But my Crockpot Multi Cooker is still with me.. itās been about 2 + yrs.. Iām only now, commenting, because i received and update email, to the thread. I š«¶š½ my crockpot.

Amy Springer did you make sure that the Steam Release Valve is in the āReleaseā (open) position before starting the cooking cycle.

The lid is not even on it. I was using it on the brown/saute setting. Therefore, I did not put on the lid. Taking the lid off would not solve my problem, as the lid was never on in the first place. I still keep getting an E5 error code, which according to the manual, means there is something wrong with the lid. However, I didn't have the lid on and I'm wondering if there is a sensor or something I can replace or another way to fix it?

Iāve got exactly the same issue. Does anyone actually have an answer if the lid is NOT on?
