Home screen display problem

I just replaced the cracked screen on my ipad3. It turned on okay but the home screen is not displaying correctly. There is a thick black line down the middle of the screen. One half of the screen is displaying fine and the other half is distorted. Icons seem to be all working. I’ve check my connections a few times and all seem to be inserted correctly. I can figure out what is wrong.

Update (06/30/2019)

Attached is an image of the screen. If it is a damaged connector is that an easy fix? Thank you all for your help.

Can you take a close look at the LCD connectors on both the ribbon cable and logic board? They may have gotten damaged when being reconnected.

The LCD is really easy to damage and I suspect that this is the case here. Can you post a picture of the screen (add it to your question)? That would allow us to see the “damage” and offer a better diagnostic. As da stunner suggests, it could be a damaged LCD flex but in my experience, they are quite thick and rarely get torn.

The other thing to look at is the LCD connector on the logic board. It has the little flap that must be raised to remove/insert the flex. If that gets damaged, then the flex is not properly tensioned to ensure good contact.
