What component is missing on my Logicboard?

Hello,

I have a Mac mini 2014 which wont boot. When pushing the power button the fan spins for a fraction of a second and is off for 2-5 seconds. This cycle repeats endless. The USB-Ports have the same pattern of powered on and off. I tried another power supply without any change. When inspecting the Logicboard thoroughly i noticed a missing/broken component, but I cant find any details about it and I hope you can help me.

It is the very first component on the long edge of the Logicboard (purple rectangle)

Here is a closeup. The only markings I can recognize is a “As” written on it.

@downforce that looks like a SMD chip capacitor. There are no schematics for the Mac mini so you would need to rely on either somebody measuring it on their logic board or trying to find another one of those on your board. You need a capacitance meter to measure a capacitor.

Hello oldturkey03,

Thank you for your quick answer. I happen to have the exact same board with the capacitor still attached. But when I measure without desoldering (which I want to avoid) do I measure possible capacitors in series or parallel?

@downforce now I am confused. You measure it across the contacts on the capacitor. You may get different capacitance values with it connected to the circuit, but it will give you a pretty good idea on what capacitor you will need.
