My USB-C port has honey inside. Whats the best way to clean it?

We were on vacations and somehow my macbook ended up soiled with honey. The most difficult part now is to clean its two USB-C ports. This ports are the way the macbook charges. So they’re very important. I’ve tried isopropyl alcohol and artist brush, and sometimes the ports work. But only sometimes. Whats the best way to clean them?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You’ll need distilled water (not tap!) as well as some cotton swabs (Q-Tips) and paper towels

You’ll need to follow one of these guides to take the bottom cover off and fully power down the system

Once the cover is off you’ll want to carefully remove the USB-C port assembly from the logic board and unscrew it from the frame. Once out you can use warmed up distilled water on a paper towel to clean honey off the removed connector assembly. For the case in general, use the cotton swabs and paper towels to clean the case and the opening with the warm water.

Don’t let the water to enter inside the system!

And let the connector assembly fully dry before installing.

Thanks for your answer, Dan. I was expecting an easier way; but I will take the courage I need to take the cover off.

Well, I have to say I didn’t do it because I don’t have the tools I need to open the laptop. But I gave it to a person that could and he did the cleaning. Fortunately I have now one USB-C port functioning properly, for now at least. Thanks Dan for your help. I think your answer helped me to make the right decision ^^ I don’t know if this is the ultimate solution but now 2 months have passed and this is going well.
