Spilled water. Command key won't work nor scratch disk.

Hey Friends,

I dumped a full glass of water on my computer Tuesday night and then let it dry overnight. About 14 hours later I tried it and it worked but the Command key is shorted out. I also tried to turn on Adobe Premiere and it says Scratch Disk not accessible. Also now my Permissions are messed up. It doesn’t like saving files to drives (sometimes says they’re encrypted).

If you were me, would you try to salvage this machine as I imagine I need a new keyboard and maybe even a logic board? I haven’t removed the back cover yet but comfortable doing that as I’ve fixed other MacBooks of mine in the past. Just not sure if I’m naive to all the other problems I may have created with corrosion, etc.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

I would recommend a professional with an ultrasonic to do this job on the logic board. You will need a new uppercase.

Thanks for the response Mayer. Do you mean I need to take it into the Apple Store or are there other less expensive routes you're suggesting?

An Apple store will tell you it can't be repaired (has to be replaced). An independent repair guy (if he has an ultra sonic, he's probably the type of guy with experience) will give you a better shot. But you take the risk that it not repairable.
