Ge dryer shuts off mid cycle

Ge dryer will shut off about 10 mins into cycle. Then after about 5-10 min of cool down it will restart and finish out complete cycle (50-70min). If you let it cool completely down it will shut off again a few minutes into the cycle. Also it seems like if there is only 2-4 pieces of clothing in it it won’t shut off at all and run a complete cycle. It has all been cleaned out of vent pipe is opened and completely clean.

@lacoda23 This sounds like an overheating issue and your upper limit thermostat/thermistor turning your dryer off. That is most likely also why you can restart after a while. Enough time to cool off. If you let us know what exact model this is we might find more information about this.

This video should help with the upper limit thermostat. You also want to check your cycling thermostat. For that on here

Would it still be the high limit even though it completes the cycle even after it shuts off once and it has a cool down period. It will run for about 10 minutes then shut off and cool down for about 10 min then i will start it again and it will complete the cycle and run for 50 min with no problem. But if you let it cool completely down after that first 10 min it will shut off again when I start it.

I would take the opportunity and test both thermostats. I know it seems odd but since it comes back on etc. it does sound like the thermostats.
