How to replace the charging port?

My laptop’s charging port won’t work. When I plug it in, it is not charging and when I took it to the fix it shops, they said the port inside is damaged. I want to fix this or replace it, etc. How can I do this?

Unfortunately, this DC Port is soldered to the main board. Unless someone knows what they are doing, replacing it will damage the board, itself. My suggestion is to find a place that has the experience in replacing them. Or, with a little know how, you can replace it and save a few dollars. The ONLY other option is to replace the mother board entirely. This cost starts around $250 and only goes up from there. I wish I had better news for you.

Hi @Loren Watts

Looking at the hardware maintenance manual for a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB / 720 15IKB it appears that the DC-In cable, part # 5C10N67809 (supplier example only) is a FRU but only in the 15IKB model and not in the 13IKB model. Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you, if you have the appropriate model.

You have to nearly completely disassemble the laptop to get to it though. Go to p.60 in the manual to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the DC-In cable.

Hopefully this is of some help.
