Replace display panel board

Hello,

I have a dead LCD panel on my iMac. I think the LCD itself is okay (it suddenly died after an SSD upgrade), and I also think the internal (eDP) and Backlight connectors are ok.

I suspect that maybe the circuit board on the back of the LCD panel is somehow broken. I was thinking that maybe if I found a similar LCD panel, I could just take the board from that and replace mine.

My question is:

Does anyone know how I can go about testing the T-CON board? It is the one attached to the LCD panel and covered by tape and a metal housing. The eDP connector attaches to it, and 2 ribbon cables come out of it.

Would anyone have any idea how I could maybe test it?

Update (05/03/2019)

I did some more research, and it . looks like what I am asking about is the T-Con board for this panel. Anyone know how to either get a t-con board or how to possibly diagnose the T-Con board . for this panel?

Answer this question I have this problem too

You’ll need to get a replacement screen: Apple P/N 661-5568, or LG displays: LM270WQ1(SD)(C2) or LM270WQ1(SD)(C1). The T-CON board is not sold as a spare from either.

How did it “suddenly die”? Do you get anything at all? Have you reset the PRAM? I would also double check all the connections, specifically the LCD cable and make sure it didn’t pull loose from the BACK OF THE LCD. I would measure the voltage to the connectors as well, just to make sure the connectors are actually getting power. 2010 iMacs are notorious for GPUs failing as well, just an FYI

I am going to check the eDP cable. I have 2 and I swapped them without luck, but perhaps the connector on the mainboard is broken.

I haven't reset the PRAM. But once I verify the voltages from the backlight and eDP ports, I will reset it.
