Freezer not freezing, refrigerator not cooling

My refrigerator WRX735SDBM00 is not working. Freezer not freezing, refrigerator not cooling and the ice maker not making ice. We change the thermistor W10316760 and the W10196393 Damper Control. I clean around the coils and compressor while it was disconnected but it’s still not working.

Hi,

Is the compressor running? Is it getting too hot to touch?

Can you hear if the evaporator fan in the freezer compartment is running?

The fan stops when the door is opened and starts again when the door is shut. (either door - fridge or freezer). The compressor will continue to run with a door open if the set temp hasn’t been reached.

If you can't hear the fan is the evaporator unit getting icy cold? The unit is usually behind a panel in the freezer compartment. Tap the back of your fingers against the freezer compartment wall to feel if it is cold - be careful when you do this ;-)

It the evaporator unit is not getting cold and the compressor is running then there is a problem with the sealed system, either a blockage, a leak causing loss of refrigerant or a faulty compressor unit.

Are there any oily deposits around the compressor or condenser coils indicating a loss of refrigerant? (the oil is in the refrigerant to lubricate the compressor).

Check the warranty for your refrigerator. Most manufacturers whilst only giving a 1 year warranty on most parts in the refrigerator usually give 5 years on the sealed system, including the compressor. Worth a look in case the problem is in the sealed system

Usually the sealed section of a fridge needs to be checked by a licensed refrigerator repair service to comply with environmental laws regarding the handling of refrigerant gases.
