Is the dc jack modular or soldered to the motherboard?

Another school issued Chromebook looking pretty sad, as this is used like a Frisbee during recess. I need to replace the dc jack to avoid paying them for another repair. It has slight damage and I already straightened the charging plug tip. Didn’t see a guide or a part listed but I’m hoping for the best.

Hi,

Here’s a link to the Service manual for the laptop.

Scroll to p.31 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the Power Connector cable. It has the DC-In jack connected to it.

Also on p.31 you’ll find the part number (920842-0010).

If you search online by typing the part number only in the search box of your browser, you’ll get results for suppliers of the part.

Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is shown only to give an idea of the cost of the part and what it looks like. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better.

Thanks! I'm going to hold off on the ordering of the parts till my son reads the service manual! Then maybe we'll dig into it if the jack actually fails. It's working for now.
