TC-P60GT50 light blinks 8 times

No picture, TV sounds like it tries to turn on but doesn’t. Yesterday it turned on after a hard reset but won’t today. 8 blinks of the red LED light. Is it the SS board most likely?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

yes, your SS board is the primary suspect. Check the board itself and see if there are any scorch marks on the board around the screw holes where it connects to the chassis. Not uncommon for the board to shorten out

I replaced the SS board and switched out ground screws on the SS board and SC board. Same problem happened again next day. Always seems to happen after watching TV for about 20 min and then TV shuts off and power light blinks 8 times. Try the TV again in a couple hours and it works again. Any thoughts? I like the TV a lot so hoping not a complete witch hunt

@fmplatt530 sometimes a bad SC board can cause issue with the SS board. Since your TV is working after a couple hours of being off it appears that you have a component somewhere that is overheating. Post some good pictures of your boards with your question Adding images to an existing question

Interesting. After I replaced the SS board I tried to power the TV up with the back off and got nothing and 7 blinks, which I understand points to SC board. It certainly feels very hot in the area of the SC board when the TV is on and working. I got the TV from a friend who could not stand the buzzing sound and I opened it up to find very loose ground screws on the SC board. Tightening those got rid of the buzz for the most part. I will open TV again tomorrow and post pics. Thank you again
