Power Supply Orange or Blinking, varying sequence

So I just picked up a used Xbox One Day One edition for dirt cheap as it will not turn on. Now onto my problem, depending on the sequence of how the cabling between Xbox, PSU and wall is plugged in the light on the PSU varies in results..

Connect Power brick to Wall, I get a orange light on the PSU then I add the last connector to the XBOX and the orange light totally turns off and nothing. No response from XBOX.

If I plug in the Xbox connector, and the power !$$&* together and the last piece being the wall socket plug then the light on the PSU is blinking Orange/White. Same result no response from Xbox.

Doing some investigation online some claim the PSU is fried, but what i’d like to know what exactly it is, I hate to just replace components.

Any experts out there that repaired one or two of these and can guide me in some direction?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Ordered a new PSU off Amazon and same thing basically happens. When I connect the cable to the actual XBOX the light on the PSU starts to flash orange/red can’t really tell what color it is.

Is the actual console a dud? Anything to check in the console?

I would try another power supply, a console repair store will be able to test out with their power supply if they have one which would be a good idea as buying a replacement power supply might end up being a waste of money as you wouldn’t know whether or not if it was the power brick being at fault until you tried another one.

Thanks for the reply. But I would like to troubleshoot this PSU. I do not have access to another console or PSU so it kind of makes it difficult trying different ones.

Im going to visually inspect the capacitors as they appear to be the culprit too, I guess?

I recently just got a new power brick/cord. My old one was turning off when I plugged the power cable to the Xbox. It would be on for a good minute then off when I tried to turn on Xbox. So it's not the Xbox.. it's the brick

I have opened my brick on my Xbox one after my brick was producing a blinking orange light. On disassembly I found one capacitor worth 61 cents Australia to have blown. I will have removed it and will be replacing it tomorrow and will let you know if this has solved the issue. Can’t find anyone that has managed to 100% solve this issue but from my inspection this seems the only component to have failed. Very easy job to do as well.
