Front Bezel- Frankenstein Replacement?

Has anyone tried replacing the front bezel of a non-unibody macbook pro 17 " with the front bezel of a G4 powerbook 17"?

From pictures the strucutre looks similar, however, there may be two potential issues: the camera and the hinges.

Please let me know if you had any experience with this frankenstein fix or know if it might work, thanks!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I've looked through the manuals for both and I will agree that they do look VERY similar (front, back and overall dimensions). I do not have both at my disposal so i cannot tell you if they will work or not. I would be curious of your results. The hinges shouldn't be a major issue, the camera might cause problems (as you also mentioned). You might have to dremel off some mounting tabs and use two sided tape to hold it in place.

Well, i think that needs some serious home engineering ;-)

As pierrej mentioned, a Dremel would be of tremendous value.
