Flickering issue on primary display, external display seems fine

Hi all,

I have a mid 2012 MacBook pro that has been experiencing this rare issue. the main screen flickers randomly but my external screen seems fine and I could still use it normally.

Is this a screen issue or a GPU graphic card issue?

It’s not the integrated GPU, which is a good news, as a faulty graphics issue would be showing up on the external monitor too. However, ruling out the Gpu doesn’t make things much easier as the fault could still be on the logic board, Lvds cable and screen. You would need to have a screen assembly to try out to progress further in troubleshooting, or start probing the Lvds connector, which is not a typical DIY repair.

Thank you Arbaman, I will swap the screen with another one (hopefully I find one soon for sale) and will let you know how it goes.
