Repair information and guides for the iPhone 6S released by Apple on September 25, 2015. Models: A1688, A1633

Need battery replaced but not sure...

I tried to have Apple replace my battery, but they refused because they claim my screen is aftermarket. I am in dire need of a new battery but now I am worried about having it done because of all the crap (and it very likely was) they told me about how the new battery would cause screen issues etc. I bought the phone 2nd hand, and the screen performance is excellent. Is there any reason for me to sweat over having the battery replaced by a reputable local shop? And what liability does the shop have, if the operation DOES cause problems with my device?

I appreciate your help!

A battery causing screen issues ? LMAO, if that’s what they’re spreading they’ve gone into pure FUD, hope they just had an apple logo hanging there by chance and it’s not a real apple authorized centre. However, if you go having your battery replaced by a reputable repair shop you won’t really run any risk. from a technical point of view. As far as liabilities are concerned that depends on the country you are and relevant laws..ask the shop about their warranty policy, that’s the easiest path.

If the shop is reputable and uses quality parts you have nothing to worry about.

As far as liability goes, it really just depends on their warranty. Any repair shop that knows what they’re doing will test out your device in front of you—typically they have a checklist—to ensure everything is in the same condition as it was when you brought it in, and if they do screw something up it will be documented and typically covered under the shop’s warranty.
