Can a home button be replaced? Or does it only work with the original

I replaced the screen and digitizer but snapped the home button cord on accident. Now I have another home button I bought. And it doesn’t work? How can I get it to work

A replacement Home Button will only work for the “click” function. The TouchID will not work. Only Apple can replace a Home Button and retain TouchID.

To be honest, you might just have to get a whole new digitizer assembly, which if you might be able to exchange it out for a new one from the seller. Normally they would allow things like this to be replaced.
