Forgot pattern lock on a ZTE cell

I have this ZTE Model Z667T cell phone from 2014 that I use only to listen to YouTube if I'm working on my other cell phone or my tablet. For some reason, I put a pattern lock on it and I totally forgot what it was and this phone is not activated and my Google account is still on it but I cannot figure out this pattern and I don't know what possessed me to even make it , so I'm wondering, is there anyway I could figure out how to get back into using it? The only thing that it says after five times of putting the wrong pattern in is that I have to wait five minutes and underneath it says emergency calls only. I even tried to pull the settings down and that's not even allowing me to do that, either. Help…TY!!!

What version of Android does it run? Have you unlocked the bootloader or installed a custom recovery previously by any chance?

I put the model number on because I can't even get into the settings at all. It's from 2014, so if I can't get the settings to pull down, I can't do anything but just keep trying to remember what pattern I put in. Like I said in the original post, I don't know what possessed me to put a pattern lock on it when all I do is use it for YouTube. The sound is actually way better than this brand new cell phone I bought a few months ago.

@auntdawny there's no "Forgot Pattern" on the lock screen after getting the pattern wrong 5 times? That was a standard feature of Android 4.4.4 and lower which your phone seems to run.

It says "wrong pattern" and after I incorrectly drawn my unlock pattern, it tells me to try again in 30 seconds cuz it only gives me 5 times. The only thing on the screen, and it's very tiny one, cuz it's a tiny cell, is the time, the date and like I said I cannot even pull down the settings.

If you haven’t unlocked the bootloader (you would know if you had) there isn’t really a way to remove the password and retain the data on the phone.

You can factory reset the device, but you will lose everything on the phone. If you only used it for YouTube, that’s probably fine however.

  1. Power off your device
  2. Hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons
  3. Release both buttons when you see a menu on your screen

You should be seeing a text-only menu (maybe with a little Android icon in the background). You use the volume buttons (up and down) to move, and press the power button for “ok.” Press volume down until you get to Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and select that option. After a few minutes, your phone should be completely reset.

Oh wow...ok... What Dale said it is highlighted where it says wipe data/factory reset, but it has a bunch of no's and only 1 "delete all user data"...hit the power key on that, right? as I said, it is literally only for YouTube because for this old cell, it is way better and louder did the brand new tablet in the brand new phone that I just got. Go figure! Lol

so I hit the Power button now on what I had just told you and it says reboot system now. I hit the power button again and it powered off so I'm just waiting for it to come back on. I also disabled pretty much everything all that phone except for the YouTube and even the Google It case I'm busy with work on my other devices.

Just waiting for it to come back on...

OMGGGG....THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

I did that it sounds corny with it just try to get in there for the YouTube, but with my job, this is a lifesaver to put those earbuds in. You have no idea how much I appreciate it!

Jonah, you and Dan both helped! Do you think that it may work for the iPhone?

by

@auntdawny no, the process for resetting an Android device is different than resetting an iPhone. Also, if you reset that iPhone of yours, it would delete all the photos I thought you wanted to restore :(

Glad it helped with this phone though!
