LG Refrigerator IS error on LMXS30776S

MY LG refrigerator dispenses water into the ice tray, freezes the ice and then tilts the tray but does not complete the process of dumping the ice. Eventually it gives me an Error 15 and when I do a diagnostics test on it shows an Error IS.

I have changed out the ice maker.

I have changed the main board on the fridge

I have changed the board that is located on the top of the left fridge door ( sub PCB board )

I did an ohm test on the connector 11 & 12 of the ice sensor cable and those are showing normal.

When I do the test to check if the refrigerator thinks the ice tray is full it does show FULL, even though there is no ice in it.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great…

We’ve had several long term power outages in northern Calif. our ice maker stopped filling with water shortly after one of the incidents. We also had to pull it out and put it back each time to hook it up to the generator. I think somehow something went caddywaumpus as a result of these activities but the motor mechanism works and so does water dispenser but no water gets to the ice unit. So frustrating.

My ice maker is doing the same thing. I changed the ice maker and the new one is doing the same thing as the old one was. I gave up.

Same model, slightly different problem. E 15 code on the display. I've changed ice maker module and icing fan in the freezer compartment. No luck. If I turn off the fridge then turn it back on, the error will go away for about 2 hours then show up again. And oddly the ice maker still makes ice even with the E 15 code, just slower than normal, about 6 hours for every batch. I'm giving up..

Hi @kentdes ,

According to the service manual(p.109) if you do the ice maker diagnosis test (sect13.3.2) then FULL means that the ice detecting sensor is faulty

This is from the manual:

If ETY is shown on the display after the procedure above, Ice-detecting sensor is normal.

If FULL is shown on the display after the procedure above, Ice-detecting sensor is abnormal.

ETY = empty

Since you have tested that the sensor is OK these are the other possibilities according to the manual:

Cap duct bad sealing

Defective thermal sensor in the icemaker compartment

Not cold icemaker compartment area (sealed system)

Thanks for the response... I just took out the ice maker assembly and double checked all of the connections and the Ice Maker diagnostics test is still showing FULL ( indicating an abnormal state )

So even though this is a brand new ice maker, I think I'm going to order another one just by the slight chance that this new ice maker has a defective Ice-detecting sensor.

I know its a long shot.... but these days with the amount of merchandise being ordered and returned online I suppose there is a chance someone returned a bad unit and it got put back into inventory.

On a side note, you also pointed out that it could be a defective thermal sensor in the ice maker compartment. I believe that sensor is part of the new ice maker assembly. ( I think this is the case? )

Hi @kentdes ,

Don't know but what about the seal on the cap duct.

If warmer outside air was coming up the ice chute (if this is where the cap duct is) then perhaps the sensor would be registering it as too warm.

Just a thought.

Did you get this figured out? Cuirous, I have the same fridge, and mine about 70 of the time on't fill up the water tray after dropping the ice, but if I trigger it manually works every single time. Same with a new ice maker.

Randy, I am having the same problem. Have you found a fix yet?
