Why is my Touch ID working but my home button not?

I was thinking that since I bought a life proof case Itf work, so I brought it in a hot tub and I think some water leaked through the case and damaged something that had to do with my home button. My Touch ID works but the home button doesn’t respond? Any answers as to why I’m stuck in this delima?

Despite Apple’s and the LifeProof’s claims of water resistance , you should never willingly bring an electronics device in water. You only do that with waterproof devices. The best guess here is that water got into the device and affected the HomeButton flex, where the “click” circuitry is located. Luckily for you, the “click” function can be easily repaired by an experienced micro-solderer. That will be less expensive than bringing it to Apple as they will charge you an out of warranty repair fee.
