Mackie CR3 speakers volume low

Hi guys,

I just bought a new pair of Mackie CR3 speakers on amazon. I set it up, turned it on, and for some reason the volume is extremely low, but it works perfectly when I connect headphones. Its not connected to any interface but directly into my pc via aux cable. I also tried the red and white aux cables but still. I tried wiggling the l/r switch, Plugging headphone in and out quickly but still nothing.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

Since it is new and faulty I suggest that you follow the Amazon warranty directions to either get it fixed or replaced under warranty.

Here’s a link ot the manufacturer’s warranty for your speakers

Hi,

Can you raise and lower the headphone volume OK?

Have you tried a different audio source just in case it is low output from the PC?

Can't find a service manual online so you'll have to open the speaker up and check the boards for faulty connections or suspect components

If the volume control on the headphones is OK there may be a problem with the amp output stage.

Usually the headphones output is derived before the final amp output stage. I'm only guessing that this may be the same with your system.

If you do find something and you're not sure post some close up pictures and hopefully someone may spot something.

Here's how to do this. Adding images to an existing question

Probably solved or moved on by now, but there seems to be a design fault with the passive/active switch. Me and my neighbor both have a pair of these and both are experiencing the same issue. I’ve read some people have fixed it by opening them up and finding the loose cable and setting it back in place, imma try that next.

Hello Salvador,

Did you have success with your repair? I have a similar problem; my CR3's output volume weakens after a few minutes, and disappears. The green light ring stays unaltered.

Haven't been home to work on it. Getting back this week and will report asap.
