The home button does not work with a new screen.

This is the weirdest thing, I’ve yet encountered. My iPhone 7 had a completely broken screen (no image at all) I tried replacing it with a new one. The issue is that the home button stopped working. The thing is that it still works with the broken screen. I’ve tried it multiple times. I have three screens in total. The broken one which is OEM - button works. I’ve got an original iPhone 7 screen - the home button does not work. And with another OEM screen, it’s not working as well.

What I tried now is that I connected the original screen to the motherboard so I could get a working image, but I’ve connected the home button to the old screen and used only the small connector to connect the button to the motherboard. Everything works flawlessly. The home button press works with the Taptic Engine and TouchID works great as well. What could cause this? The button itself is clearly working fine, but only with one screen. I’m absolutely flabbergasted.

Try another screen. I have had a similar issue (not 3 screens), but with an original replacement where the home button didnt work, but an aftermarket one did as well as the original broken screen. I would buy another screen from a reputable supplier like iFixit just to make 100% sure.
