Why isn’t my Xbox registering discs?

My Xbox One works perfectly for all of the apps/games I have purchased online. However, it will not read/acknowledge when I insert a disc. I’ve tried games, dvd’s, and Blu-ray Discs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Tiffiany,

I believe I had this same problem last year with mine as well. There’s a few simple techniques you can try, but worst case scenario, I believe Microsoft will let you send the console back for a new one (so I’ve heard, don’t quote me)

  1. Remove your disk
  2. Unplug your Xbox One from the power source
  3. Plug it back in and turn your Xbox back on
  4. While your Xbox is in the "Xbox One" loading screen insert your game and it should start to read the disc.

I think that’s what I did. It took a few cycles, but ended up working fine. Otherwise, try tilting the front of the console up about 45 degrees while you insert the disk. In some cases, this helps the disc seed better when it’s having issues.

I honestly can’t tell if this video is a joke or if it’s really just s stupid out-of-the-ordinary solution, but worth a try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WtLSGiP...

There’s also a few other disc-insert techniques swirling around on YouTube, and people are still claiming in the comments (as recent as last week) that these methods worked for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w3cI9aA...

This issue is just about as common as getting a cold in the Xbox world.

Let me know if this works for you!
