LG refrigerator not cooling - resolved

I have an lg model lmxs30776s that isnt cooling in any compartment. Front panel says the freezer is at 0 degrees and top portion at 34. Compressor is running, fan is running next to coils. Neither is hot. Took top panel off and no lights blinking. When unplugging and plugging back in it blinks 1 time. Fan in top compartment runs when doors are closed.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Have you measured the temps independently using a thermometer to verify what the actual temps are in the compartments?

Does the evaporator unit in the freezer compartment feel icy cold? (watch out that you don't literally stick to it when you go to touch it)

Are there any oily deposits underneath the compressor or condenser coils? If so there may be a leak in the sealed system

if the condenser coils don't feel warm/hot then there may be a problem with the compressor or perhaps there has been a leak in the sealed system.

Jayeff - no need for a thermometer. Freezer stuff was thawing out and most stuff was too warm. IE: milk curdled. I dont see any oily deposits under the compressor. The space under the coils looks off color but doesnt feel oily. The lines coming off the compressor aren't cold either.

Hi,

If the evaporator unit is not icy cold and the condenser coils aren't warm/hot then there is no refrigerant being pumped through the sealed system either due to a blockage, low or no refrigerant or a faulty compressor.

Depending on your location you need a licenced refrigerator repairer to check the sealed system

If it is a sealed system problem check your warranty. Not sure about LG but a lot of manufacturers give a 5-10 year warranty on the sealed system as opposed to only 12 months for any other parts.

Thank you for the reply Jayeff. Found out that LG is involved in a class action regarding their compressors. Called LG and they are covering parts and labor.

What was the issue? My refrigerator reaches about 52F, compressor is cold, all fans are running, no error codes!

Have an LG LMXS27626S. The freezer would get cold, but the fridge would not go below 50 degrees F, regardless of the setting. No noisy compressor, clean coils, all fans working and NO fault codes. The problem is a tiny, motorized door in the inside of the refrigerator, behind the rear panel. The tiny flap breaks and it will NOT set a fault code. I took it out and threw it away and the fridge stays at 34 degrees F all the time now...
