Hi @miaka ,

What is the model number of the phone?

Is the new SIM card the same physical size as the old working card, nano or micro card?

Are you inserting it the correct way?

Hi @miaka ,

Can you try a 3rd card to see if that is at least detected in your phone?

Bit hard to measure but is the new card the same thickness as the old card?

It may be that the new card is slightly thinner and not exerting enough pressure on the SIM reader pins for a good contact when it is inserted.

In the past people used to paste very thin paper on the back of the SIM card to increase the thickness but sometimes got into trouble because the paper stayed in when the card was removed. ;-)

Either that or the SIM reader pins in the phone have lost a bit of tension and your old card is just the correct thickness.

That's all I can think of.

Hi @miaka ,

The only thing that I can think of to try next is to replace the SIM card reader - example only in the phone.

As it is an SMD (surface mounted device ) type of component, you’ll need SMD tools and expertise to carry out the repair.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 guide which may be of some help in gaining access to the card reader.

If doing this yourself is too daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and explain the problem and see if they come to the same conclusion about replacing the SIM card reader.
