Hi,

It might be blowing hot air but not efficiently enough to remove most of the heat generated by the CPU.

You need to disassemble the laptop and remove the thermal cooling assembly (fan) and ensure that it is clean and dust free. Check that the fan vent in the case is also clear of dust etc.

While you’re there you may as well gently clean off the old caked on thermal paste on the CPU and apply a small drop of new thermal paste to ensure good heat transfer between the CPU and the fan assembly.

Here’s a link to the service manual for your laptop.

Scroll to p.45 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/ replace the thermal cooling assembly.

Here’s a link where it answers how to apply thermal paste to the CPU in your laptop. There are plenty of video on You Tube as well that show how to apply thermal paste to a CPU

Hello,

Probably the laptop shuts down because it has reached a CPU temperature that can damage the system. It’s a safety system inside most computers. If you want to learn more about the safe temperature of computer parts, i highly recommend this video. Also, when does the overheating issue occur? Is it when eg. using your browser? Or are you using applications that use a lot of computing power?

Kind regards,

Maxim
