Why wont it boot?

i just upgraded to windows 10. i have an older custom built pc.that had windows 7 on it but after i used a usb to put 10 on it wont boot. it says “no boot device found” help please i cant buy another computer

If you previously had Windows 7, your boot options in your bios settings are probably set to Legacy. Try switching them to UEFI and seeing if it boots.

To clarify: the USB needs to be partitioned with the GPT partition scheme, and your BIOS settings must be set to UEFI. Try toggling the fast boot option off if it’s on as well, since that can sometimes cause the no boot device error on some computers. Try reinstalling windows 10 again if it still doesn’t boot.

Thank you! This fixed it. It was set to LEGACY but I changed it to UEFI and it works!

Sounds like something went wrong during the installation. Did it get this error during the upgrade or was it able to boot into windows 10 before?
