iTunes on Device Shuts Down

I recently bought a used first generation 8g iPod Touch and the only issue I've had is that I cannot run iTunes on the device! When I hook the iPod up to the computer, it syncs with iTunes perfectly fine, but the version directly ON the iPod does not run. It will open, but when it tries to load the Top Ten screen, it comes up with a "This operation cannot be done" error message. It will also allow me to search and look at all the albums and podcasts on iTunes, but if I tap any of them to see the track listings, iTunes shuts down and sends me back to the home screen. I do NOT have this issue with Safari or even the App Store buttons, it is ONLY iTunes. Does anyone have ANY ideas as to what is going on?

Kayleigh, have you tried a restore on it? Is it jailbroken ;-)?

by

I wouldn't even know how to tell if it had been jailbroken. As far as I know, it has not. I just tried to restore it, but it gave me a "2003 error". Now when I plug it in to iTunes, it says it is in recovery mode and insist I attempt to restore it again and again with no change. :(

Try to download irecovery from here http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/07/ireco... and see if it can get you out of the recovery mode. I also use iReb to get it out of recovery mode. It is available here http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/vi... good luck

It is available here http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/vi... You could also try this "turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into itunes while still holding the home button until the itunes symbol appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore mode". Restore your ipod to either a backup of that ipod if there is one, or set up a new ipod. (setting up a new ipod will fix any previous problem)" BTW the 2003 error is :Connection problem; change USB cable and check USB port. Good luck
