Home button membrane damage

I nicked the membrane over the home button, and I think that is the reason now why finger prints are not getting read. I tried to re-record my finger print, but the phone says that I am not covering the sensor completely with my finger.

Can you get a replacement somewhere?

The Home Button TouchID function cannot be replaced nor can it be repaired (well, it can if done by someone highly skilled…depending on the actual damage…but for all intents and purposes, it can’t). Apple can replace the button as part of a screen replacement.

The question here is what exactly is damaged. Your description doesn’t really make it clear so perhaps you could post a picture of the damaged area.
