Have you checked the bearings that are on each end of the beater brush? Often times string, fishing line, ribbon, etc will get wound tight there and create enough tension that it will fail to turn.

I have used it no more than 10 times. I have checked everything and no luck. It's not under guarantee as I was away for quite some time but I expected to get more use from it than that before it packed up. Not good!!!

How long has it sat for? Rubber deteriorates is not used often. we've had mat for our garage that sat and started to breakdown, potentially the belt could be bad that drives the brush. Do you have a particular model number that you can provide? I can look over a schematic and see what might be going on.

I have just checked and discovered that it has a 2 year warranty so it is still covered. Just need to check up where to get it repaired. Thanks for your help. When it did work, it was brilliant.

I've had mine for 24 hours. Worked for 10 minutes. Beater bar no longer spins. It's new. It's clean. Took it apart several times and put it back together. I'm not an idiot -- I can follow written instructions and click this thing together. This is a piece of junk. Amazon will not allow further reviews because of "unusual reviewing activity". There's no excuse for this. There is a design flaw and they hope to make money by making it for $20, selling it for $200, and hoping 1 out of for doesn't return it in time.

I have a BHFEA520j stick sweeper that the bar stopped turning and was actually stuck. Hair had incurred in between the inside of the end cap at the end opposite the drive motor. This cap has a square end that locks into place to keep the roller in place.

The hair that had gotten into that area had actually melted and this friction welded the cap to the roller.

There are two choices depending on willingness and time available. The entire roller can be replaced along with the bearing cap. The second choice is to try to remove the end bearing cap from the roller brush. In my case, a leather hammer facilitated this. The surfaces that meet from brush to cap will have to be scraped of burnt melted hair taking care to preserve the features, especially inside the bearing cap. Mate together and roll to determine smooth operation, tiny squirt of WD40 and you should be in business.

I had the same problem withe power extreme stick vacuum and the solution above worked. I used olive oil and got decent results. 2 vacuum’s later the same problem occurred and I removed the end and cut the hair. It seems the design is quite vulnerable to hair tangling

I have the same problem, it has happend twice in 1 year. There is barely any hair in the brush, i think its an electrical problem.

Getting a new one for the third time.

Hello,

Almost every time that the brush stops turning, it is because of hair wrapped around the brush roller. You will burn out the belt if you use it too long in this mode. Your only fix is to take it apart and and clean it (and cut any hair stuck in it in the process).

Good Luck!

Bad design. Plastic octagonal gearing strips out immediately.
