Upgrade OS to High Sierra?

I have upgraded to El Capitan, but would like to know if the model could be upgraded (clean install) to High Sierra or perhaps Sierra? According to the spec’s listed for the OS X High Sierra, this model should be able to be upgraded to High Sierra.

If it is not able to be upgraded, could you elaborate on why it would not be able too? Thanks

The Core 2 Duo based systems are not able to run 64bit apps natively.

High Sierra and Sierra both require a Late 2009 or newer model iMac. Yours is a Mid 2009 model so it cannot run either.

Is this a limitation of the processor? If a new SSD hard drive were to be installed, would that make a difference? Thanks!

The CPU is the issue not storage. But! Putting in a SSD will improve performance! iMac Intel 20" EMC 2266 Hard Drive Replacement

I would also max the RAM to 8 GB. iMac Intel 20" EMC 2266 RAM Replacement
