Weird grinding noise + Startup chime but nothing shows up on screen

Hi!

My Macbook sounds like it’s starting up as usual (there’s a weird grinding noise but that might be the disk drive…), but then nothing pops up on the screen. I’ve tried a whole bunch of things like resetting the SMC/PRAM, and that didn’t help.

There may have been some liquid damage to the thing… could it just be extremely dirty?

The bottom is also missing a lot of screws, could it be related to that?

Oh also, the charger is a green color instead of an orange color, which I've read might be a battery issue. Could this be preventing it from showing anything?

Thanks in advance!

I think you’ll need to open the system up to inspect things. The grinding is likely dirt in the fans. Using a small soft paint brush scrub the surfaces to loosen the dust and junk then us a can of can’ed air to carefully blow the dust away using short bursts.

Once you’ve cleaned tings do you see any staining or white or green crust?
