Digitizer touching lcd issue all working though

I have replaced the digitizer and everything works ok.

The only issue is that if digitizer is pressed more than a very light touch it seems to run the lcd behind.

I notice that this digitizer had been replaced before and at the bottom end their should be two buffer strips along the bottom of the lcd. These are missing so is this the problem that it has now cusion?

I appreciate any advice

Answer this question I have this problem too

Can you elaborate on “run the lcd behind”. Are you talking about the glass is touching the LCD and you can see what looks like pockets of air or there is visible pressure on the LCD when you press it?

If so, these are caused sometimes by a few factors. Sometimes screen suppliers sell glass that is too thick or too thin depending on the quality which can cause these types of issues. Also, if the foam gasket that is around the LCD is missing and the replacement digitizer doesnt have the foam gasket, then the buffer that creates to slightly lift the digitizer off the LCD is not there, thus causing it to touch the LCD in places.

If this isnt causing any functional issues, such as ghost touching, then I would leave it alone unless it’s very obvious. Usually small defects such as small dust and the issue that I think you are explaining, arent noticeable enough for the customer to complain.

Hi Brian.

I took the lcd back out and put 2 layers of 1mm wide gorilla tape arpund where the original foam should be and 3 layers on the bottom strip where the two little strips are missing .

It is now fine with no issues and unless pressed with excessive force it does not touch the lcd behind.

Thank you for your help and advice.

Have a lovely Christmas.

Kind regards

Phil

Thank you for your response. I thought I wrote “touch the lcd behind”.

That makes sense. The foam and the two little strips at the bottom end are missing. I have a spare screen so I might give that a try.

Thank you for your help.

Was the battery bloated by any chance or the iPad mini housing being bent around the middle those are usually the two causes of LCD display pushing against the digitizer glass.
