Audio no good out of Headphone Jack

I had previously replaced the screen on my iphone 4 and since then the audio is extremely distorted out of the headphone jack. (The speaker at the bottom of the phone works fine). I ordered a headphone jack replacement and replaced the old one. It still has the same distorted audio. Any clues as to what it might be?

Thanks, Shane

Distorted audio may be caused by a few things - faulty earphones or a bad earth. I don't think the audio amp is faulty as you say it works OK with the internal speaker

try a different pair of earphones

check that the earth/shield on the audio jack is connected properly.

THIS link may assist as it shows the connections to the TRSS plug. The signal you want to ensure is correctly connected is the Common (Ground)

My guess is that since you have disassembled the unit, perhaps you have a poor connection to the headphone jack
