trouble with home button

Hi,

I've brought a used iPhone 3gs 16gb with broken home button, or I thought so.

I alreday had an other 3gs, so when I changed the entire display assemply of the broken with the one working. It worked great.

I was hundred precent sure it was the home-flex/button. so I orded one from the site. I changed it, but the home button is still not functioning. the iphone is still good when I put the display assembly from the other one into it.

So where to look for the problem :)

does the "broken" home display work in the other iphone?

no, the problem is somewhere in the display assembly, but where, I don't know

I've also changed the digitizer to a new one :(, so I do want to throw it away

disassemble the digitiser and home button. clean where the home button sits in the midframe and the back of the home button. as the digitiser plays no part in the home button action I can only imagine that it is installed incorrectly on top of the home button. (ie the digitiser has no electrical contacts with home button) you may also like to check that the 2 gold prongs on the bottom of the home button haven't been flattened... they need to be about 45 degrees to make contact with top of dock.

done, no changes, now I've also destroyed the working iphone, something is wrong in the midframe.

it doesn't register any sim-card, saying no sim installed :(
