I have picture and sound but picture then goes off but sound remains

I have a panasonic tx-48cx400b with same/ similar issue. When tv 1st switched on i have picture and sound but picture then goes off but sound remains on. If i look at screen while on top of table (removed from wall) i can see faint control pictures ie if i press volume or menu. I removed the back of tv an can see white lights but then they go off. I presume these lights are the backlight. What actually controls the backlight? Does the main power board have a cut out/relay to supply the backlight and could this be the issue. While i had the back off the tv i looked for any obvious signs of faults ie loose cable burnt pcb or anything that didnt look right but nothing stood out. Any advice wiuld be appreciated

@bobbydazzler you are right. This “I removed the back of tv an can see white lights but then they go off. “ is the backlight. As a simplified answer, the main board tell the power board to turn the backlights on. If they turn off shortly after turning the set on, it is usually related to a bad power board or bad backlight LED strips. You can check the power board and see if it still supplies the voltage to the backlight LED’s when they are off. If so, you know that you most likely are dealing deal with bad LED strips.
