Odd behavior after changing battery

Block Image

Hi.

My battery where swelling, so i had to replace it.

Inserted the charger and the unit boots, but the battery indicator shows that the battery is not charging. Did a shutdown and kept it off until chargerlight went green. Started up and it seems to be ok. Unplugged the charger, and it looked good. But after a while the screen saver and power management kicks in. Then I woke up the unit, and all seems nice. But when I tried to move it, I nudged the charger a bit and the unit dies. To be able to start it with the charger unplugged, I have to reset SMC.

Now the unit starts. And all seems nice. But after 3min the unit dies again.

is It a faulty battery? Or is there a way to calibrate the battery. I have read about charging until green, and charge 2 hours extra. Then unplug and let

the battery drain. But when I unplug, the unit dies ASAP. Any suggestions?

Update (11/24/2018)

The macOS battery status is “poor” so your battery is likely a dud. Replacing your replacement battery with a new replacement battery (that’s a mouthful!) should help.
