White Screen of Death after Replacing LCD Screen

Hi guys.

I have replaced the LCD screen on my iPhone 8 and after turning on the phone I get a screen with a white background and black apple logo and it is stuck there besides a loop that occurs every few minutes.

I tested the phone again with my old cracked screen and I get the same occurrence so I know it’s not the new LCD screens fault…

I presume this has something to do with some connection with the main phone components? Did i break the mother board? Or does anyone else have any idea on what may have happened and if I could test anything else to see if it works?

Many thanks.

Just to update everyone, in case this happens to anyone else… I damaged the front camera flex cable so that was causing the battery to drain quickly and not allow me to go further that the power up screen.

I can use the phone without the flex cable connected (minus a few working features such as the front camera and speaker), will be replacing this asap.

There are a lot of small components surrounding the battery and screen connectors. It is possible you damaged or dislodged one of them to cause this issue. Take a close look at that area to see if anything is damaged or missing. Use magnification, something like a jewelers loupe will come in handy.

Will have a look at this asap. Thanks a million for your help Minho. I suspect maybe something may be wrong with the battery perhaps as the screen turns on (with the white background and black apple logo) when it is plugged into a power source, but when the iphone is not plugged in, it won't even turn on to the white background, but it will show the 'out of charger, please plug it' graphic on screen when i try and turn it on..

Aha, there’s your problem. You need to disconnect the battery before removing the screen otherwise you ruin the screen. You’re in for a screen replacement now, sorry! :-(

Yeah it mustn't be the LCD screen's problem as I tried with my original screen as the same problem occurs..I reckon it must be something to dothe battery or motherboard connections perhaps
