Repair guides and disassembly information for laptops manufactured by ASUS.

I can't move my mouse while typing

I’m currently using an ASUS FX504 and when I try to follow the usual solutions, mainly using the synaptics settings, I can’t find synaptics settings anywhere. It’s not in the additional mouse settings or anywhere when i try to type and find it. I have no idea how else to fix this problem, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The answer I found ended up being to change the touchpad sensitivity from medium to most sensitive and it worked perfectly. This is for anyone else who has this problem

Hi @jaden767 ,

Check in Device Manager to ensure that you have the latest touchpad drivers installed.

To get to Device Manager in Win 10 from the desktop right click on the Windows Start button, left side of Taskbar, select Device Manager link from the drop down box. When Device Manager opens, scroll down to Mice and other pointing devices, click on the + symbol to expand the list and check for a touchpad hardware entry. Right click on the entry and select Properties > Driver and check the version number

Here’s a link to the Asus download support page for your series laptop.

Select your exact model variant and then the OS. scroll down to find the Touchpad driver download and see if it is a later version that what is installed in your laptop.

If it is, download and install the updated Touchpad drivers and check if this resolves the problem.

If you have problems navigating through the laptop with the touchpad when also using the keyboard, try plugging in a a USB mouse and using that until you have updated the drivers or have found another cause of the problem idf this doesn’t resolve the problem.

Thank you for helping, I appreciate it a lot. However, the problem currently is that, after downloading the touchpad driver, when i try to install it, nothing seems to happen but a command prompt popping up for less than a second. I'm not sure how to properly install the drive.

Hi @jaden767 ,

Download the drivers and save them to a file location which you can remember.

Go back to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices > right click on Touchpad entry > Properties > drivers > update Drivers > select option to Browse my Computer . scroll to "remembered" downloaded driver file location > select > OK and then follow the prompts.

If this doesn't work, in Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices > select Touchpad entry > right click Properties > select Uninstall > restart the laptop and let Windows re-install it for you. If it asks for updated drivers either allow it to find online or update manually as above.

Thank you for continuing to try to assist me! The problem is the device that is there is HID-compliant mouse, and no touchpad, so when I uninstall HID, it comes back as that, nor can I seem to switch the driver to the ASUS touchpad driver, and this driver seems to not use synaptics, which is why I can't adjust the settings to fix the original problem.

Hi,

Check in BIOS > Advanced > Internal Pointing Device and check that it is enabled.

To access BIOS press F2 during POST, i.e. after starting the laptop but before it boots into Windows. Alternatively go to Start > Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Advanced startup > Restart Now > Troubleshoot > Advanced options >UEFI Firmware settings > Restart

If it is disabled, enable it and then "save" the settings as you exit BIOS

If it already enabled in BIOS is there a makers name associated with the HID compliant mouse entry in Device manager or is that just the entry for the external USB mouse that you may connected to navigate through with?

It's manufacturer is Microsoft, and it's the driver that's currently running the touchpad (probably, considering when I uninstall it the touchpad still works). The problem is that this drive doesn't have synaptics or seemingly any other way to fix the typing and moving the mouse problem which makes many games unplayable.

Sound like a setting for palm rejection to stop you accidentally moving the cursor with the track pad while typing.

In the mouse settings under touchpad there is a delay option for when it will work after typing, If its not already on no delay then try that.

I can't seem to find any option resembling that wherever i look
