Why won't my home button work

So I replaced my Screen due to breaking it, when I did this I lost my home button function. By this I mean not just the Touch ID but the function of the home button completely. Further adding to my issue, is the screen turns on and off as though I am touching the home button, leading to depleting the battery rapidly. I replaced the Home Button and the issue is not better, possibly worse.

Any suggestions?

My guess is that the home button is either partially depressed by the glass or you accidentally grounded one of the contacts on the button. Take the glass out but leave it connected and see if it turns on and operates normally. If it does the button is either too big for the hole or the glass was just mounted improperly. If it continues to do it with the glass removed the problem is on the board where the button connects.

I agree! He is the computer expert in Top Gun, right? (based on the iMac G3 in the clip I am assuming that)
