What to do if I dropped my 2DS in water a few weeks ago?

So, My 2DS was in a water spillage in my bag and I did not notice until a few weeks later. Whenever I try to charge it, the orange light lights up for about 2 minutes, and when I try to turn the 2DS on, the blue light doesn’t light up at all. I already tried opening up the back and cleaning the motherboard and the components inside with achohol and a cotton swab. I also tried reattaching the two ribbon cables that are both facing up. And I am broke, so I can’t go to a repair shop.

First Name Last Name  in your case you may need more than a cotton swab. I suggest that you totally disassemble your device using this guide Nintendo 2DS Motherboard Replacement

Then follow this guide Repairing iPhone Liquid Damage about how to clean the board. The guide was written for an iPhone but the principle about the cleaning still applies to your DS as well. Once you got it properly cleaned, replace the battery and re-evaluate.

In the meantime you do not want to try to charge or to turn it on. This potentially can make bad things worse.
