Is nondestructively replacing iPhone 7 home button glass possible?

Anyone know if there’s a way to nondestructively replace only the glass circle (roundlet, surface, whatever you want to call it) on the iPhone 7 home button? This would be for the purposes of modding the colour of the button in order for it to match a black display installed on the silver variant of the phone. Incidentally, anyone know of someone who has successfully pulled off this colour swap? Thanks.

Okay, interesting. If I do this, I would probably get a sacrificial button to try that on first. Any specific tips though? Or a link to a schematic or teardown of the button assembly? Would be great to know what's under the glass so I know how gentle to be/where to pry if necessary.
