I installed a SSD and RAM in my iMac 21.5 4k 2017 today following the Ifixit guide. However, when reinstalling the OS from my Time Machine, I chose the wrong drive. I chose a partitioned drive that had data on it instead of the new drive. Is there any way for me to get back the data on that drive?

I would say, very difficult as I had tried before, reimaged a hdd from winxp to win7 during a OS upgrade exercise on one of the pc.
user feedback that he had backup his data, but on last minute asked me if i can recovered as he keep some files in C:\windows\foldername (rolleyes)
I tried using software like getdataback, but no success….
hopefully other mates here can give you better suggestion or if it is really important… give a call to data recovery specialist.
