Odd USB issue (the one on the right)

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro Late 2015 and I have a problem with my right USB. I can see storage sticks and external hard disks (also copy from/on them), but if I try a mouse or my microphone, it won't work (the microphone's led is red, so it gets power - Blue Snowball Ice).

Resetting Reset PRAM/NVRAM or SMC won't do anything for me.

The USB on the left works just fine, so it’s not about a driver or a conflict. What do you guys think?

The Usb port on the right side is part of the I/O board. That makes it relatively easy and inexpensive to try restore it’s function by a part replacement on a DIY basis. You may want to try checking all connectors between I/O board and logic board first. If you’re not in a hurry you might try replacing I/O flat cable as a first step and the board afterwords to possibly save some money.

I understand, but I can read external hard drives with it, so the USB port works. Can this be broken and still function with an external hard drive?

I would try a USB power meter like this USB Mini Voltmeter See if the power level is the same between the ports. Then using the meter with your drive first you'll see the power draw it has, then try your mouse or microphone their draw will be a bit more.

I bet the cable is having issues. Try disconnecting it and the re-connecting both sides. That may fix things.

I just ordered a USB mini voltmeter. I will check. Thank you.
