Kenmore Dryer Noise Model 110.87692100 with Video

My dryer just started making noise. It seems to come and go. It’s a model 110.87692100. Here is a video with the noise. It gets the worse around 3 seconds. This just continues in a cycle, sometimes being quiet for a while.

Here is the video.

I trying slowing the drum with my hand (carefully), and it doesn’t make the sound worse or better, but it does change the sound because the speed changes. I tried pushing the drum up down left and right and that didn’t trigger the noise. It’s a pretty fast sound (rotationally), so I was thinking about the motor.

Any thoughts?

Also doesn’t anyone have the repair manual for this unit?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

It may also be that the drum roller bearings or drum roller axles are worn.

I couldn’t find a free service manual online but I did find a video on how to replace the rollers and this account of how to access the motor (and also the rollers?) which may be of some help.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Most Kenmore dryers have a belt around the drum with the motor driving that belt. It's been a long time since I opened one up, so I can't remember details but I believe the drum rotates on guides. I don't think there is a shaft in the rear. Those might be where the problem is.
