3gs was working now dead?

My iphone was working great!! Went out of town was on a 2 hour flight and used it the whole time got to the airport plugged it in to one of the USB ports there have at the airport it worked great went to grab something to eat came back to the USB docking spot made a call went and plugged it in back in at another spot to get a little more juice and it went dead?? And nothing.... tried rebooting it..... still nothing?? went to a little Mom and Pop cell shop when I got to town and he said it might be the dock port he put in a new one and it worked!!! On the way back to my hotel the batter went dead and it wont charger to anything!!! I'm now back home and have tired syncing it and nothing?? A little help!!

Well I got the new batter and new docking port a screw set had no problems with taking it apart put in the new batter as the batter was installed and I start to put the phone back together it started to get hot... I Put it together turned it on plugged it in, It got so hot I put it on an icepack said it was charging it went black now it's dead.... Any ideas???

no1 charge from known good charger/USB at wall ac...leave a few hours. then hold home and power to reboot. Is it recognised in itunes or does the vibrate work? (just to check it's not a display problem)

i'd check that mom and pop reinstalled the motherboard properly so that the screw under the "do not remove" sticker is in tight enough to make contact with the battery. while you are there I'd also check on the battery.. this may be your culprit. Also recheck connector 4 is on properly.

The battery in my phone has gone from working perfectly to 3ominutes of use in just over a few days! when the battery dies it dies! I recently upgraded from 3.1 to 4.2.1 (just because I thought after all this time maybe I should..) and I know there were issues with 4.x ios and battery life...if this is similar to you, maybe consider a downgrade of ios?
