temperature gauge not working and the fan run immediately

2005 Opel zafira temperature gauge not working and the fan run immediately when I switch on the car. The thermostat housing replaced and engine coolant replaced but no change. What can be the problem

bang the base of it with a hammer lightly a couple times and see if it works
